Our Family

 

Kathleen Allison - is the owner and director of Chautauqua Day School.  Originally from Chautauqua, New York she earned her first masters degree in dance and performed as a professional ballerina in companies in the United States and Europe.  Miss Kathleen has owned and operated the Academy of Dance since 1987.  Miss Kathleen's second masters is in Early childhood Education and Childhood Development.  She is dedicated to providing a beautiful childhood with all of the educational benefits possible for every child at Chautauqua Day School.  Teaching through Art and the Socratic Method is a passion.  Miss Kathleen can be found working with the children daily and guiding the teachers in the Methods of Socrates and Reggio Emilia to place every child on the path to personal and academic success.  "My inspiration is my daughter Asya."  Miss Kathleen says, "Through her I learned to love all children and understand the full potential of human kind."   Contact Miss Kathleen

Jake Endemann - Mr. Jake is originally from Woodridge, IL.  He has a B.A. in English Literature and a Masters in Secondary Education from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN.  His main role at Chautauqua Day School is the K4/K5 teacher but he also enjoys writing and singing songs to all the children.  In his spare time, Mr. Jake plays soccer and the guitar, not at the same time, and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  Contact Mr. Jake.

Amber Mann - Miss Amber is originally from Lykens, PA, she has a B.A. in Theater Arts from Catawba College, Salisbury, NC.   She has spent the last 5 years working full time as an actor and theater teacher.  A perfect combination of her two passions - theater and children.  She loves working at Chautauqua because she can teach theater to such young children and give them an appreciation for the arts early on.  Her main responsibilities are directing plays for K4 and music teacher for all ages.  She also works closely with Miss Layna on planning activities for the 2 and 3 year olds.  In her free time Amber loves performing onstage, both acting and singing.  She lives on James Island with her husband Phillip, son Adrien and their dogs, Bailey and Gizmo.  Her mentor is her mother, she strives to be as good a caretaker as she was.  Her hero is Gilder Radner, hilarious!  Contact Miss Amber.

Meredith Aubrey  - Miss Meredith attended the University of Kentucky & Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Elementary Education, specializing in Kindergarten.  She taught preschool for two years in Kentucky before getting married Spencer in June 2007 and moving to Charleston.  Miss Meredith works with Mr. Jake teaching K4, K5 and first grade.  In her spare time she enjoys tennis, golf, horseback riding, going to the beach and shopping.  Her Mentor is a friend, Margaret Corio who taught her so much about life and passed on the love of teaching.  Contact Miss Meredith.

Mya Rose Laurie  - Miss Mya is a graduate of School of the Arts and the Academy of Dance Arts. She is a Graduate of the Alvin Ailey School with a BA in Dance. Mya has been dancing as a professional ballerina in New York New York for the past 4 years. She has recently moved back to Charleston to teach in the Academy of Dance Arts Studio and to start a Dance Company through Chautauqua. Mya is working in our infant care center during the day where she loves to care and nurture the babies! Mya has a lot of experience working with infants she worked at Chautauqua at our Bohicket Campus for 3 years where she learned the Socratic Method and teaching through art. Mya will return to New York to dance after a year with us. We are blessed to have her here!
